Switch Network Simulator (JUNOS and IOS)

Switch Network Simulator provides an Effective lab environment by simulating a switch network consisting of Cisco® IOS and Juniper® JUNOS switches. Additionally, a lab manual provides hands-on experience configuration and troubleshooting of switch networks consisting of Cisco and Juniper switches.

Switch Network Simulator software Provides several lab exercises for a better experience and intended to give Practical knowledge about switch Commands for those who are interested in learning practical switching. Along with practice labs, one will be able to configure/troubleshoot the switch network. It is also useful in any certification preparation such as Cisco CCNA or Juniper JNCIA.

The Switch Simulator software is a software tool that enables candidates to work on Cisco/Juniper switches in a stand alone virtual lab environment. Several labs have been made available for practice in the lab manual for both Cisco and Juniper switches. Both Command Line Interface (CLI) mode and Graphical User Interface (GUI) mode are available. Domains covered in the labs include

1. Basic IP address configuration of switches

2. VLAN, VTP configurations

3. STP configuration and troubleshooting

4.  PoE (Power Over Ethernet)

Check this for Available Cisco/Juniper labs

Several new features added to Switch simulator include

1. Backup and restore Lab configuration
2. Bookmarking individual Labs.
3. Bookmarking all labs under selected section.
4. Saving and reloading half completed labs
5. Resetting individual and all labs to default.
6. Marking not attempted, not completed and completed labs in different color for easy identification.

The switch simulators provide a simulated environment, where you can configure a switch. There are two Simulators provided: Cisco switch simulator and Juniper Switch Simulator

Given below are some screenshots of the switch network simulator

Switch Simulator Home: Allows to Navigate to various features
Cisco Console switch simulator

Simulator of the Cisco ® switch IOS, where a limited set of switch commands are supported. You can work with those supported commands in a similar manner as that of the actual switch.
Cisco GUI switch simulator

Various navigation panes are provided to configure the device in GUI environment.

As seen in the figure, the GUI consists of a left pane that outlines the configuration tasks, and when selected, the right pane provides the work area, where the user may select or type-in appropriate configuration. Several labs have been given to familiarize the user to configuring the network using GUI

Juniper Switch Simulator (console based): Simulator of the Juniper Switch, where a limited set of router and switch commands are supported. You can work with those supported commands in a similar manner as that of the actual switch.

Juniper Switch Simulator (GUI based): Various navigation panes are provided to configure the device in GUI environment.
